I honestly don’t understand how multi-day tours are expected to work on GetYourGuide

GetYourGuide launched multi-day tour sales with a lot of noise and publicity, but in reality these products are still treated exactly like standard €50–€100 activities — same commissions, same cancellation rules, same presentation.

Let’s be realistic.
How is a tour operator supposed to sell a product priced at €2,000, €3,000, €5,000 or €7,000 with a 30% commission? How can this be economically sustainable?

Multi-day tours involve significant upfront costs: prepaid hotels, experiences, meals, transportation, logistics, staff. With standard 24-hour cancellation terms, a last-minute cancellation doesn’t just reduce profit — it can easily turn into several thousand euros in direct losses for the operator.

As a result, following a very disappointing interaction with GetYourGuide support, I deactivated sales of our 5-day Italy tour and paused the listing of other my multi-day products.

I’m genuinely curious to hear from other tour operators and industry professionals:
– Are you successfully selling multi-day tours on large OTAs under these conditions?
– Have you managed to negotiate different commission or cancellation terms for multi-day tours?
Or are we all facing the same structural issue?

Curious to hear your thoughts.
