Cloudflare is down, bringing X, ChatGPT, Spotify, Anthropic‘s Claude and many others with it. A few weeks ago, Amazon Web Services (AWS) had a massive outage that brought to their knees many services.
Two thoughts:
1/ Maybe it is time to rethink our strategy here? The Internet was designed to be fundamentally decentralized, yet financial interests lead to the creation of massive single points of failure.
2/ Interestingly, the supposedly all-powerful AI agents that are supposed to fix these issues are brain dead because the API that power them is unreachable.
Looking forward to reading the postmortem. Maybe this whole mess is due to an AI agent that decided to wipe out all records in Cloudflare‘s 1.1.1.1 DNS server.
