The Next Disruption of Media—and What to Do About It

Last year, I did 34 speaking engagements. These organizations were all different (most are shown below), but they brought me in for similar reasons:

  • To get an objective outside perspective from someone who knows firsthand what it’s like to operate inside a large media company.

  • To help kick off an internal conversation.

  • To step back from day-to-day business challenges—the what is happening—and develop a framework for understanding why it’s happening and what comes next.

The common thread is that they’re all confronting the same question:

As GenAI brings down the cost of content creation and supply explodes, where does value accrue and how should we position ourselves?

That question was mostly theoretical in 2024, became more tangible in 2025, and will become acute in 2026.
