Tripadvisor & OTA Apps in ChatGPT
This can’t be the path forwards.
1. Why would I want to browse around a specific OTA within my ChatGPT window? The whole point is that my AI can see across everything. If I want to browse Tripadvisor I could just go to…. Tripadvisor.
2. It doesn’t really work (I searched for SF, it returned me SF airport, which is not in SF).
3. It’s really clunky. Once I open the map, its just kind of stuck, and the listings don’t resolve fully in the window.
4. Where are the « Book Now » buttons? I’m not even talking about not having agentic booking in the window – it doesn’t even show me a Book Now link into Tripadvisor.
5. I like that Tripadvisor think their 1 billion reviews are where the value lies. Problem is, they are not really ‘theirs’ anymore are they? We all have the same access, and the LLMs trained on all of that data years ago.
Not wanting to come across as negative here. I applaud companies testing / iterating with the new world of AI.
This is just a weird side-step and not too much different to plugins, which were almost 3 years ago now!
