McKinsey & Company just admitted the quiet part out loud: the traditional consulting business model is collapsing with AI as the accelerant. And rivals are scrambling to keep pace.

Business Insider reports that 25% of McKinsey & Company’s global fees now come from outcomes-based pricing, not billable hours. That’s a direct challenge to the old “scope + time + team” playbook that Deloitte, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and EY still rely on.
